A Cute Little Gift Purse

My daughter is always in need of a gift for various girlfriends but I wanted something special for Emily. She and Mariel have been friends since they were born! I was present for her birth and her mother is my very best friend :) I found this "paper" purse in the clearance section at Jo Ann's for 50 cents!

First I painted it with some acrylic paint and then traced it onto this cute patterned paper from Imaginisce (another bit of blog candy winnings) and then layered on the matching embellishments.

It opens with a little metal clasp and there is plenty of room for a present!

This is my current favorite photo of them :)
I probably should have photographed it from the sides and top, but I was in a hurry as usual.

Well, I'm off to take my Dad for his latest surgery. Wish us luck! It's going to be in the 90's today so at least I'll be in air conditioning :)

The "thought" for the week is up!

Snowgirl *Out for Publication*

Continuing with my Winter train of thought, here is a layout featuring my very own snowgirl. I wasn't always enamored with her sock monkey hat but I admit it's grown on me :) It was love at first sight for me and this Pink Paislee "Snow Day" paper. Love the blue, red, pink combo!

We hardly had enough snow this year to even build a snowgirl :(  Sprayed the kraft background with some Smooch spray ink and stitched it down onto the yummy candycane stripe.

Used a portion of an old K I Memories snowflake laser cut paper and layered a Basic Grey border strip over it. Can't get enough of these borders! This one is layered fabric, felt, stitching and buttons.

The giant snowflake is cut with the "Joys of the Season" Cricut cartridge. I chose this snowflake because it resembled one ot the snowflakes in the laser cut paper. It makes a great frame for my favorite photo.

Still using these very old Sassafrass letters. Popped them with 3L foam squares. Maya Road wooden snowflakes and Pink Paislee diecuts.

Ok...I'm done with Winter for a while, I didn't take many photos this year.

Thanks for stopping by!

Gingerbread Houses *Out for Publication*

Christmas in May??? I know, we aren't even to Summer yet but I have a couple of older layouts to share :) One of our annual Christmas traditions is making "gingerbread" (Lyn builds them out of graham crackers) houses with my friend Lyn and her family. We started this tradition when our firstborns were in kindergarten together. It's hard to believe they are 15 now!

This layout turned out a little busy but I like it :) Pulled some old Basic Grey and K & Co. papers and made the gingerbread house and man with my trusty Cricut. Added buttons, brads, puffy paint and glass gems to add that extra oomph.

Chipboard letters covered in paper are old Basic Grey. Does anyone else have trouble photographing 2 pagers? My camera seems to adjust the color of the background based on the overall page and the they hardly ever match :( Then I try to fix in Photoshop and spend a lot of time and utter not so nice expletives until I give up!

The gingerbread man is from the Winter Frolic cartridge.

Gingerbread house from the Wrap It Up cartridge.

Drew on his cute smile :)

Slowly using up my stash of ancient Queen & Co. brads (door knob).

Closeup of journaling for my friend Casey...she says she loves to read the journaling :)

Candy canes are diecuts from my Imaginisce blog winnings last year and what layout is complete without Thickers?!

It's going to be a hot one here today, 80's yea! Dr's appointment early today. Then over to Dad's to get him fed and settled after dialysis. Bad news from last week, surgery next week again on his fistula. Please send a prayer up for him. Last time we did this he ended up with a pacemaker!

Jefferson

Hello! I know I've been remiss...bad blogger! Here is my first assignment for thinking*through*design. Our task was to create a layout using analogous color. Click the link above to find out more about this "thought".

Jefferson is one of the reasons I've been MIA. He became very ill last week and almost died :( I'm happy to say he is recovering now and enjoying all the attention.

Disassembled these lovely flowers from Petaloo and added buttons, the blingy centers just didn't fit the homey feel I was trying to convey. the ruffle is gathered crepe paper.

Thank you for being patient, I'll try not to disappear for long periods of time again :}
