You are probably ready to move on but I have one more Christmas project to share :) The Hallgren family Christmas was packed this year. So packed that we had to move our festivities to Mike & Jill's house (much bigger than Grandpa & Grandma Hallgren's) to fit everyone. Candi & her boyfriend Joe came from New York, Andrea's Mom, and Ryan's new girlfriend Addie were all new additions. All in all, I think there were 30 total! I had to come up with something to give each person. It's no fun not to get a little something at Christmas, no matter how small. I decided Puppy Chow would be a good treat (recipe to follow) and created these cute treat toppers to fancy up the cellophane bags.
Used the Cricut cartridge "Simply Charmed".
All in all I think there were 6 layers involved. I know, what was I thinking? I make 35 of these puppies! Thank goodness for the quantity feature. I just programmed in how many I wanted and it cut them. It really didn't take me as long as I thought it would and the smiles on Christmas were worth all the effort :)
Those of you that haven't heard of Puppy Chow are really missing out. Beware...it's addictive :P
Puppy Chow
9 Cups Corn Chex
1 cup semisweet chocolate chips
1/2 cup peanut butter
1/4 cup butter
1tsp. vanilla
1 1/2 cups powdered sugar
Measure cereal into large bowl.
In 1 qt. microwave bowl, microwave chocolate chips, peanut butter, and butter uncovered on high 1 minute; stir. Microwave about 30 seconds longer or until mixture can be stirred smooth. Stir in vanilla. Pour mixture over cereal, stirring until evenly coated. Pour into 2 gallon resealable food-storage bag.
Add powdered sugar. Seal bag; shake until well coated. Spread on waxed paper to cool. Store in airtight container in refrigerator.
I don't refrigerate mine and it seems it lasts several days before it becomes stale, although it rarely makes it more than a couple of days before it is gobbled up. Recipe courtesy of General Mills.
Low cencus day from work today. Cross your fingers I don't get called in, the roads are "slicker than snot" as my Dad would say. Hoping to get some scrapping in. Have a great day!
