Soccer In Michigan

Is an adventure! It's been a trying spring. Cold & wet. Here is a pic of Mimi & her friend Kendall after a soccer game last week, check out the socks :)

Finally a ray of sunshine and temps over 50. The field is a spongy, muddy mess but we'll take what we can get!

Here is my favorite pic of the week :) Kendall, Olivia & Mimi after practice today. Goofy girls!

Sorry, no layouts till next week. I have to work all weekend and I forgot to take pics because I was distracted by the sunshine and plants waiting to be potted up. Isn't the color of this Forsythia pure sunshine?!

Thanks for stopping and have a great weekend!

Happy Easter and a New Layout

I love these pictures of Matthew when he was "little". The first thing that popped in my mind when I saw them was "Refridgerator" Perry! Especially now that he is a 6'4", 285lb. hunk of a boy that now wears a 16 shoe!!! The football coach salivating, I'm sure. Here is the layout:

Found a refridgerator on the "From My Kitchen" Cricut cartridge. Added an eyelet as an accent. The 3-D accents are from Me & My Big Ideas.

American Crafts (because we all know I'm obsessed) & Sassafrass letter stickers. Basic Grey patterned paper with a Sassafrass scalloped border.
Used some more eyelets to accent the punched border and the patterned paper on the left.

Thanks for taking time out of your busy day to visit!

My Little One...

Is twelve now! Where does the time go? I can remember when she had 3 little chubby rolls on her legs and how I cried when they were gone. It signified to me that she was no longer a baby. Here is a layout of my sweet Mimi before she could walk and would delight in taking her socks off. Little did I know it would progress into taking all her clothes off when she got older! I would go up to check on her in her crib & she would be nakey as a jaybird!

The dragonfly & snail were made with the "Paisley" Cricut cartridge. The red polka dotted scallops are fabric cut with my Cuttlebug. I had to add a piece of cardboard to make it thick enough to cut, still can't find any of the "C" plates for the Cuttlebug.

Added the polka dots to the title with acrylic paint and the end of a rubon stick. The Martha Stewart punched borders are highlighted white on the embossed line with an American Crafts marker. Making Memories journaling spot, American Crafts & Basic Grey letter stickers.

Isn't that little snail adorable :) Little Yellow Bicycle patterned paper and Imaginince button brads.
Hope everyone is having a great weekend! Time for me to get back outside while the sun is shining & get my yard spiffed up!

Spring...Now I Remember Why I Hate It!

Soggy, wet, cold, OR hot, dry, & buggy...either way I hate it. Why can't it be 65, sunny, and balmy? That is why I love fall :) So in honor of my favorite season here is a layout!

Yipee!!!

Cut the center out of a Pink Paislee diecut and sewed it down, deliberately missing stitches to make it creepy :), sanded the edges and curled the scallops. The bats are cut with the "October 31st" Cricut cartridge, love them over the moon. Layered MM letterstickers & flocked rubon onto Pink Paislee journaling spot and topped with a K&Co chipboard house, AmericanCrafts letter stickers and some Basic Grey buttons.

How Can I Think About Fall???

Because the magazines are asking for layouts 6 months ahead of real life :}} The sketch for Creating Keepsakes this month was a tough one! It was a perfect opportunity to scrap all those photos I took last fall when I was experimenting with macro & blurring the background. LOVE the one the title is placed on!
Used the Cricut cartridge "Straight From The Nest" &  Bazzill swiss dot paper for the leaves. Popped them and stitched hand drawn doodles for the falling leaves effect.

Basic Grey pp, border sticker, & chipboard letters. Autumn Leaves acrylic stamp for the journaling spot.
Making Memories letter stickers.

If I could have a redo, I'd probably leave a skinny border around all the photos so they wouldn't blend in so much.

      Thanks for stopping!

No Rest For The Wicked!

I feel like I've been running in circles today! Here was my itinerary today:

6:45-8:00    Study for Neonatal Resuscitation
9:30-11:30  Written test & megacode
11:30          Popped in to Micheals & Jo Anns to see if anything new, bought birthday present for friend :)
12:30-1:45  Picked up Dad from dialysis, took him to store & carried groceries in
2:00            Lunch :)
2:30-4:30   Cut back perennials & raked, funeral for "Greddy" the guinea pig :(
5:00            Dinner
5:30-8:00    Computer time, editing & submitting, reading email ect.
8:00-9:30    Visiting with kids & "supervising" bedtime
10:00pm     This blog post!

Enough of the boring stuff! During that "computer time" I edited some pics of a few cards I made last week. I've been trying to use scraps from each layout I make. Here are a couple made with the Basic Grey "Marjolaine" line (from the "Hot Shot" layout). Both are Fathers Day cards:

The next two are made with an older line of Fancy Pants paper (from the "Read To Me layout). Birthday cards:
The packages are cut with the "Celebrations" Cricut cartridge

The cupcake is from the "Straight From The Nest" cartridge & the label from "Storybook".
Hope everyone had a good weekend!

Can You Say Argyle?

I love fabric inspired patterns, so when I saw this weeks sketch from http://www.sketchythursdays.blogspot.com/ I was drawn to the argyle pattern in the background. This was my first time using spray ink on a layout. I've played with it, attempted to use it, but always ended up discarding it for a fresh piece of paper. Used 2 colors of "Smooch", sprayed and droplets and I think I like it!

Here is the sketch:

and here is my layout:

My sister is a teacher and I love how she climbed right into his hidey hole to read to him. I can't believe he is 14 now! It's amazing how much he is like her :)

The letters are KI Memories, love how bright and colorful they are.

Busy day at work! Time for a glass of wine and a scrapping magazine :}} Thanks for stopping!

The Neverending Layout!

That's how I feel about this one!

Sat and stared, moved things around, and generally fussed  & fiddled for 2 days!

The background behind the moon seemed so stark . I used a Glitz Designs background stamp (dots) and an Autumn Leaves flourish stamp to fill it in. The same type of pattern was on the back of one of the pieces of Little Yellow Bicycle paper I used as my base. Grunged the moon up too :) The silver jump rings came in a kit I won years ago and had stuck away.

I loved the Pink Paislee text paper but I knew my journaling would be lost on it. I place the rubon on the pp and it was very bright & shiny, wasn't feeling it, grrr. Looked at it for a while & decided to print the journaling on vellum, voila! Problem solved. I love how it toned down the rubon and putting the bottle on top really made it 3 dimensional! Sanding the photos really made them pop on the background.

Pleased with the results but so glad to move on. Here is the journaling made extra big for the old folks like me :}}

Thanks for taking time out of your day to visit me!

I'm So Glad That It's Over!

"It"  being ACLS! Now I can relax for 2 more years :) It's been a busy week and I'm ready to get some sleep and scrap tomorrow.

Here is a page I finished a couple of days ago. Boy do I wish all my baby accessories had better color schemes! Had to go bright with this one, first to match the bouncy thingy she is sitting in & second to counteract those darn dark pics :(

Made the weiner doggy with the paisley cartridge, he had a hula hoop around his waist but I snipped it off and added the button balancing on his nose.

The look on her face seems to say...

Journaling: I love the myriad of expressions on your face in these pictures. You seem to say "Hi, Mom", "Come a little closer", and the "Hey...wait a doggone minute! Aren't you going to pick me up?!". Mimi 5/99

Hope you all have a good weekend! Thanks for stopping :)
